August 7th Post

From June 13th, 2017 on a family trip to Europe, touring Paris. Eiffel, Arc D'Triumphe, Palace of Versaille, Notre Dame.
After a long day of walking, we made it to the beautiful, iconic Eiffel tower. I'll always remember the fun times with family in Europe, including this.

The traffic at the arc is crazy! This is the original one (featured in a lot of movies, including Mission Impossible: Fallout), many copies around the world including notably in New York City (featured in the movie I Am Legend).

Unidentified painting from the 721,000 square foot Palace of Versaille, the principle royal residence of the French kings from 1682 until the French Revolution, from Louis XIV to Louis the XVI. Info here is from the Wikipedia page. Wonderful, classic artwork.

Another from Versaille.

Exterior of Notre Dame Cathedral, an iconic structure in Paris and an important center of Roman Catholicism in France. It was completed in 1345 according to its Wikipedia article. This was taken June 13th, 2017 but on April 15th, 2019 it mysteriously caught on fire and burned for around 15 hours. Much of it was destroyed, and on July 16th, 2019, the French parliament passed a law saying that it must be rebuilt exactly as it appeared before the fire.

This is the North Rose Window, created about 1250. It remains mostly intact after the fire.
